Get there early in the morning on Friday so you don't miss out on the fun! If I have someone to go with me on Thursday (who has large enough transportation), I might be able to take along extra weapons for you all to have them checked.

They typically hold weapons check somewhere around 9-10 am. They're done by 11-11:30 am, if memory serves.

If you show later than that, you might have hassle getting your weapons checked.

Sciye and I will certainly be attending winterwar. I'm also bringing every peice of warm weather gear I can get my hands on.

I don't know what my ride situation will be like since thurs is an inconvenient start day but if I can get my car then I can handle a great deal of weaponry. I don't know about red weapons but shields, blues, and javelins will be easily carried.

It'd be worth every minute. Plus the traffic is FANTASTIC that early in the morning. Seriously, give it some thought.

Also, VERY good call by Sam there. It is COLD during those nights up near Atlanta in November. Make SURE you bring lots of blankets and things for your tents (else you will freeze during the 28 degree nights - not good for us Florida folks). If possible, do your best to acquire a cloak before then as well. You'll thank yourself a hundred times during the weekend if you do.

If a bunch of people are also bringing different cars we may as well ask them to leave some space to bring firewood for each car as well. I know your car, Cordane, is microscopic so it may difficult for you to do so but the rest of the cars should grab some.

Good call on the cloak. I completely forgot about how amazing that was last march. I will need to get on that.

Hey Meager,

You guys should leave Thursday! You might still get there for some night life. Or miss a day of class... just say'n!

Make sure you guys pack for cold nights and hard fighting days! Should be a good event!

Hey Cordane! What's the food situation at Winter War like? I know that there's a feast on the last night but what about lunch and dinner on all the other non-feast times? I foresee the bringing of my own food but how much should I be bringing? Junk/snack food or three days worth of meals? Just curious because my dad was thinking about bringing up a cooktop for camping when he came up for parent's weekend and I wasn't sure if I'd need it or not.

Actual cooktop shouldn't be necessary. I generally bring hotdogs for fire-roasting dinner for one or two nights. Otherwise, you should bring other things that are easy to grab-and-eat.

For this purpose, fruit is a real winner. Grab a sack of oranges - they last quite awhile, they're easier to grab and eat, and they're full of orange juice (you'll need the hydration). Also, I usually bring two of the large bags of beef jerky. The protein works wonders, but the salt requires you to eat it ONLY after battles. Don't try it before or you'll dry yourself out while fighting.

Additionally, I bring beer for night-time consumption. Not much nutritional value, but it'll fill you up if you drink enough!!

Oh, and also there's a Wal-Mart about 15 minutes down the road.

But!! If you would rather have actual COOKED food, just bring money. For pretty cheap, you can buy actual hot food (to the tune of quesadillas, sausage biscuits, and hamburgers, depending on time of day) from the on-site kitchen.

The hosts of the event own a large horse ranch. The area where we fight is behind this ranch, and upon it sits a large barn. The barn houses their kitchen for these events (and it's also where weapons-checking is performed).

Most of the food can be purchased from the food for, as I said, very cheap. I think most items are around $2 to $3, depending, and they'll fill you up. They also serve coffee for us addicts.

If you brought about $25, you could probably eat like a king (or, at least, a king who is eating from a barn-kitchen-diner).

Generally, I combine the two. I bring my own stuff, and I eat from the kitchen. Honestly, having someone serve you a hot breakfast is THE BEST EVAR (!!) when you're wandering around groggy in the cold morning.

And last thing: Buy and bring your own 24-pack of water bottles. You'll thank yourself. I'll have my own 24-pack.
