Evolution of culture tends to take longer than a century. I mean, feel free to speed things up a bit, but the evolution of humanity itself took much, much longer. quote:Hunting and gathering was presumably the subsistence strategy employed by human societies beginning some 1.8 million years ago, by Homo erectus, and from its appearance some 0.2 million years ago by Homo sapiens. It remained the only mode of subsistence until the end of the Mesolithic period some 10,000 years ago, and after this was replaced only gradually with the spread of the Neolithic Revolution.Sourcenondisclosed_email@example.com (Cordane)Tue, 11 Oct 2011 07:44:22 +0000 Montis; A History of Shogun's Homelandhttps://bdagorhiroftallahassee.runboard.com/p641,from=rss#post641https://bdagorhiroftallahassee.runboard.com/p641,from=rss#post641Revised        The nation of montis is covered in tundra and mountains along it's northern border, to the east, glaec, is predominantly ice. Several nomadic tribes from the north and east settled in the southern stretch of Montis, as it was the first patch of fertile land they had seen.      Archeologists believe that the earliest tribes in Montis formed around 2000 years before civilization. It is believed that two major tribes settled the fertile reach, one hunted in the mountains and the other along the coast. While other tribes may have existed those with access to natural resources of the mountains and plentiful food of the ocean would grow the fastest. At the apex of hunter gatherer society, there were 4 major tribes; The Xjin, Montai, Hajan and the Shou. The Xjin and the Hajan were patriarchal family clans, The Montai was warrior group that cast out the weak offspring and honed their fighting skills. They only hunted big game in the mountains often ranging into modern Thomorian, stealing what vegetation they need from neighboring tribes. The Shou were constantly victim to Montai attacks, they were also the first to settle in one place. They learned to fish along the southern coast and domesticate live stock. This gave them a significant advantage against the Montai. The Montai were only shortly deterred. they began to subjugate the remaining two groups through inter-tribal breeding. They killed off the men and forced the women to join their tribe. As a result much of the Xjin culture was lost. Many of the Hajan would choose to either live with the Shou or flee to Glaec and Thomoria. Eventually the Montai settled as well to defend themselves against the growing organization of the Shou. Now the nation was split into two; The warrior society of the Montai and the culturally advanced Shou. As agriculture and industry advanced trade became an important part of daily life between the Montai and the Shou. Conflict died down between the two groups. Also around this time, legend tells a warrior came to power in the Montai tribe named Bazaal. This was the birth of the Hemophite Religion. This faith had a unique power that the people of this region had never before experienced. Both the harsh mountainous people and the fishing cultures were entranced by the explanation of life and death. After Bazaal's death the church grew. the Shou became subservient to the hemagog which resided in the Montai capital.Through the emergence of the faith, both would call themselves Hemaphites and the two cultures would merge. Montis would become a nation whilst Thomoria, Glaec and Thundercraag consisted mostly of tribes.  Viewing these tribal cultures as sub-human Montian Hemophites would range north to enslave tribes and ship them south from the ports that had once been Shou. Montians would grow rich from slave trading, though this would spark war with Thomoria. nondisclosed_email@example.com (Shogunate)Fri, 07 Oct 2011 23:18:15 +0000
