Thanks for the input, regardless. @Laskiel - I think your snazzy catchphrase should ACTUALLY BE "snazzy catchphrase!" Just come up with a pose now. nondisclosed_email@example.com (Cordane)Thu, 05 Jan 2012 13:11:42 +0000 Re: Garb Helphttps://bdagorhiroftallahassee.runboard.com/p923,from=rss#post923https://bdagorhiroftallahassee.runboard.com/p923,from=rss#post923I do have conversation about their garb with people and I ask if they need help during said conversation. So kinda thought I was already doing that. But yeah sure, I'll try to keep that in mind.nondisclosed_email@example.com (Lasciel Caphra)Thu, 05 Jan 2012 08:14:42 +0000 Re: Garb Helphttps://bdagorhiroftallahassee.runboard.com/p922,from=rss#post922https://bdagorhiroftallahassee.runboard.com/p922,from=rss#post922I meant something along the lines of: Meager: "Oh lordy, I sure am in over my head with all this sewing I've got going on" Laskiel: -sewing senses tingle- "Why Meager, I see you are interested in doing X,Y,Z, might I suggest 1,2,3? Oh, and hey look at this, I can do all these wonderful thing! Let's see what we can do to remedy your situation. I'm available at A,B,C, here's my number so we can arrange a time to meet up and get to working on this project!" Meager: "Well golly gee, thanks Laskiel! I'm available at B,C,D, which means I can meet up with you and learn how to do 1,2,3, so that I can accomplish X,Y,Z! What a pal." Laskiel: -triumphant pose- "[snazzy catchphrase]" Basically, most of the stuff you have been doing, though very helpful, has been a passive "come to me for help" approach rather than a "let me help you" approach. I don't really know how to explain it very well so I'm going to do it with another dialogue. Noob: "Hey guys, I've come up with a name and story! Call me Hassad, the snake in the sand" Guys: "Hi Hassad" Hassad: -running around in t-shirt and jeans claiming to be a desert warrior- Laskiel: -during a water break, pulls Hassad over- "Hassad! I see you wish to be a desert warrior. Did you know that my character is from the desert land of Arhinjad (is that it?) and I would be more than happy to help you come up with some basic garb to match your persona. As you can see I am quite the desert merchant in my fantastic desert garb. If you'd like I can show you how to do these things on your own with easily obtainable materials, or I can just make it myself for a small fee. Please, let me know if this sounds interesting to you as I would love to see how we could make you a desert warrior in more ways than just a title." Hassad: "Hazzah! I have been searching for some way to make/acquire the garb that I would oh so love to wear that is convenient to me. I would love to take full advantage of this opportunity that you have brought to me as I was a little unsure of how to approach you about the subject before, either because I am shy or am not comfortable enough to approach you about such a subject. Thank you very much for extending this offer to me!" Laskiel: -triumphant pose- "[snazzy catchphrase]" But there's also the possibility that people just don't want to make garb yet, so all of my typing has been for naught. Or maybe they just don't have money, who knows. If I were you, however, I would try to get commissions for garb starting around the 11th which is when Bright Futures checks come in and people can start spending money irresponsibly for a little while.nondisclosed_email@example.com (Bill Mock)Thu, 05 Jan 2012 00:55:01 +0000 Re: Garb Helphttps://bdagorhiroftallahassee.runboard.com/p921,from=rss#post921https://bdagorhiroftallahassee.runboard.com/p921,from=rss#post921I'm not entirely sure what you are asking me to do. I have hosted garb making sessions, I am offering my time, my experience, and my equipment and I continually let people know when I am available if they want to work on things. I do this both on the forums and at practices. When some one mentions they are working on garb I do, more often than not, ask if they need help. I wrote up a how to guide to help those out doing it on their own. And I offer commission to those that don't want to make it themselves. Not sure how much more active I can be on the garb front. But if you have a suggestion go right on ahead. nondisclosed_email@example.com (Lasciel Caphra)Wed, 04 Jan 2012 23:27:20 +0000 Re: Garb Helphttps://bdagorhiroftallahassee.runboard.com/p920,from=rss#post920https://bdagorhiroftallahassee.runboard.com/p920,from=rss#post920Why don't you take the boy scout helping the old lady across the street approach. Don't sit and passively wait for people that might need assistance to ask for it, but rather, swoop in on someone you might think would like/need help with accomplishing any garb goals they may have.nondisclosed_email@example.com (Bill Mock)Wed, 04 Jan 2012 19:07:01 +0000 Re: Garb Helphttps://bdagorhiroftallahassee.runboard.com/p916,from=rss#post916https://bdagorhiroftallahassee.runboard.com/p916,from=rss#post916I'm still up for doing this with people if anyone is up for it. nondisclosed_email@example.com (Lasciel Caphra)Wed, 04 Jan 2012 14:52:08 +0000 Garb Helphttps://bdagorhiroftallahassee.runboard.com/p820,from=rss#post820https://bdagorhiroftallahassee.runboard.com/p820,from=rss#post820We need to get people garbed up, and over the break I'm going to working to help that. I know a lot of you are stuck at where to start and what to do. To anyone who is willing, I will work with each person to help design and create functional and flexible garb kits. I will help you figure out your budget and designs that can work within that. I will help you shop and pick out what you need, and in the end help you assemble them. Now, This isnt a commission. I'm not doing all the work for you. You have to be an active participant in all proceeding. What I am going to do is lead you through assembling your first complete kit and leaving you with enough knowledge so that when you need to add to it or create something new, you will know where to start. If this is something you want to do send me a message and we will continue the conversation.nondisclosed_email@example.com (Lasciel Caphra)Fri, 02 Dec 2011 00:55:28 +0000
