Captain America Shield

People have been asking about how I built a tiny round shield so I am going to post some pictures of mine and instructions on how I did it.

You'll need:
13" of PVC
2 rolls of foam
Gorilla glue
DAP
A heavier foam like a gym mat.

1- Cut your blue foam into strips 3.5"
Out of your gym mat, cut a small circle that fits inside the very edge of the hand hole and a circle that will cover the entire face of your shield.
2- DAP both sides of the foam.
3- Measure out a space for your hand by wrapping a peice of blue foam around your hand, taking into consideration gloves or anything else that will make your hole too small for your hands.
4- Begin rolling your strips around each other until you run out of strips or you reach the desired width of your shield. With 6 strips, your shield should be about 21" wide.
5- Take your smaller circle of gym mat and glue that bad boy to the very edge of the inner circle where your hand is so you have protection for your hand.
6- Cover the outer face of the shield on top of your small circle of gym mat with the giant circle, making sure to glue it thoroughly so it doesn't go anywhere.
7- On the other side, cut 2 1" wide by 1.5" deep slots for your pvc handle. Put some gorilla glue in there as well as your pvc pipe and let it sit overnight. DAP some strips of blue foam and cover over the pvc.

Your end results should look something like this.

I'm considering something like this for a strappy buckler for glaive use.

I wouldn't use this type of shield for a glaive shield. A rectangular shield would give you better protection or even a shield cut like an L to fit the curvature of your arm would be better.

Nah, was watching The Bruce use a round one with his glaive and I liked how it worked for him.

I'll give it some thought though.

For a glaive shield, I would recommend a thinner shield. You can still do this design, just make the strips of blue 2 inches instead of 3.5. I think it would be a lot more mobile and less of a pain in the butt than one that is as thick as Sam's.

How wide is his, do you know?

Yeah, the 3.5" is to absorb direct pokes from spears which I doubt an arm shield will be needed for.

I really wasn't thinking about anything nearly as thick as Sammy's for glaive use.
