Award/Rank System

After the last meeting and general conversations with people, it seems the merit badge system (a collection of individual awards for achievements that do not necessarily form a linear path of progression and can and do often function independently of one another) is the most popular. So here's my proposal for that:

There can be three classifications of awards, Honor of the Sword, Honor of the Craft, and Honor of Valor.

The honor of the sword involves any fighting and battle related achievements; fighters tests, weapons tests, etc.

The honor of the Craft involves any Dagorhir or medieval crafting or artistic achievements; Foamsmithing, leather working, garb making, medieval cooking, story telling, etc.

The honor of Valor is an award for achievements concerning dedication to the Realm; volunteering of time, hosting sessions, heralding, donating material, etc.

Each section has it's own identifying color which will take the form of a braided loop. Every achievement will be awarded with a small leather tag, that has the symbol of that achievement painted or tooled onto it.

If the Assembly identifies a person that has progressed above and beyond tin a particular category (received 10 honors or far exceeded the requirements of many consistently)a person may be awarded with a full size pelt of that categories color and the Canaur Symbol.

_______
Adding merits:
To add a merit it must be submitted to the Assembly in the same way as any other suggestion and will be approved and added as such.

Receiving a merit:
One must alert a member of Assembly who is assigned to document and keep track of merits before attempting merit OR have proof of or witnessed/vouched for by another Realm member of good standing.

Expanded rules: It is the job of the unit leader to keep track of and submit for approval a Large pelt reward. Unit leaders my be in charge of the awarding of normal level merits. Large pelts may have the unit symbol on it in the stead of the Realm symbol.

Not sure if I am over complicating things but here's how I saw it.

The use of an award/ranking system seems... meh. Word of mouth is the best ranking system. At least that's what I think.

SSD either mean Solid Surf Dan or Sir Steely Dan. He hasn't clarified whether or not he is one or the other.

I can never disagree with more things to put on my belt. I do like this way over a ranking system though.

I can't open the photos at work, but if you haven't please add a date when the pelt was awarded. Just a year would be fine.

Should we ever decide to offer annual extras (or upgrades even), we'll have a baseline to draw from.
